The Mother Principle: cultivating creativity

One aspect of the feminine experience which is celebrated in the Kundalini tradition is the Mother Principle: the incredible creative capacity innate in every woman. Women are most recognised as creators of new life, women bear and raise children. But there are other ways in which women meet their roles as mothers, by harnessing their creative energy. This creative power should be cultivated, explored, and celebrated.

Women create businesses. Women create art. Women create films. Women create food. From projects that have global impact to essential activities at home, women have an extraordinary capacity to create. And furthermore, if she doesn’t create, she might experience frustration, depression, or an underlying sense of incompleteness.

How can you explore and expand this feminine creative capacity in yourself?
Make something. Draw. Write. Sing. Cook. Dance. And perhaps most important, cultivate the meditative mind because through the meditative mind you can meet your true self and more easily access your creative talents.

There’s a lot in the teachings of Kundalini Yoga to empower women and embrace the strengths of more ‘feminine’ qualities - creativity, intuition, compassion, listening, to name a few. Join us to explore some of the tools and techniques for women’s empowerment during our weekly Power of Woman class. All who identify as a woman are welcome.
