An introduction to Kundalini Yoga. This course will introduce you to some basic Kundalini concepts and help you get comfortable on your mat – figuratively as well as literally.

This course includes four 60-minute modules designed to give you a foundation for your Kundalini practice. You can practice in your own time and come back to the videos whenever you like.

Suitable for students with no prior yoga experience. As with any physical practice, it’s recommended that you check with your doctor before starting. 

 
 

Module One: Tuning In

Each and every Kundalini class starts with the Adi Mantra to tune in. Turning your attention, you can more easily listen to your body and what it needs in the moment, starting with how to sit comfortably. When you can find ease in a seated position (whether cross-legged on the floor or in a chair), it’s easier to go deeper with your Kundalini practice.

In this module, you’ll learn the basic components of a class and a few techniques to get physically comfortable. You’ll have a chance to disconnect from the noise of the outside world to discoverer the stillness within.

 

This module includes:

  • An introduction to props to use to help you sit more comfortably as you practice Kundalini Yoga and Meditation

  • An introduction to the sound current.

    • Mantra features heavily in Kundalini Yoga.

    • In this module, you’ll learn about the Adi Mantra – Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo

  • A breath technique to calm and balance the mind

  • A set of exercises to promote vitality and stamina

  • Relaxation with the gong

  • A heart-centred meditation to cultivate a state of peace within

 

Module Two: Meet Your Meditative Mind

Meet your meditative mind! Learn techniques to regain control of the ever-fluctuating mind. Learn how to get out of your thinking mind and into your intuitive, meditative mind.

 

This module includes:

  • Techniques to focus the mind and make your Kundalini practice more fulfilling and productive

  • A breath technique that’s both cleansing and invigorating

  • An exercise to build strength and flexibility in the spine (a great warm up!)

  • A short (3 exercises) and gently challenging yoga set to balance energy and feel more stable

  • A meditation to give you an energy boost

 

 

 

Module Three: Explore the Breath

Learn why the breath is such an important aspect of Kundalini Yoga and discover the range of techniques. Start to breathe more consciously. Engage the navel point.

 

This module includes:

  • An introduction to the variety of breath techniques in Kundalini Yoga

  • Long deep breathing: a fundamental breath practice to slow the breath down, do deep more deeply and more awareness

  • Breath of Fire: a fundamental Kundalini breath practice, used often and in a variety of ways

  • A set of exercises to help open up the lungs, strengthen the lungs and increase circulation

 

Module Four: Explore the Sound Current

Get to know the basic body locks – especially root lock and neck lock. Incorporate the sound current into your practice, chanting mantras out loud as well as in silence.

 

This module includes:

  • An introduction to the science of sound

  • An introduction to root lock and neck lock

  • Kriya for Elevation: an exercise set to gently stretch and strengthen the physical body and prepare for meditation

  • Deep relax with the gong

  • Cross Heart Kirtan Kriya: a meditation to balance the brain and boost memory

 

This course includes

  • 4 hours of recorded content with Sat Shakti

  • Each module features an exercise set (kriya), deep relax with the gong, a breath practice (pranayam) and / or a meditation

  • Notes for each module, including things to do to continue your home practice

  • PDFs of four Kundalini meditations to support you on your onward journey
