Sat Shakti Kaur
JOY’s founder and director, Sat Shakti recently relocated from New York to help spread the teachings of Kundalini Yoga in London. Sat Shakti Kaur is a KRI certified Kundalini Yoga teacher, experienced in teaching general yoga classes for beginner to advanced students, specialty classes for women, students aged 60+, and students with health conditions. She completed Level 1 and Level 2 training at Kundalini Yoga East with Sat Jivan Kaur and Sat Jivan Singh Khalsa (Simran’s parents!) in New York and is a member of the Aquarian Trainer Academy. With Shanti Shanti Kaur Khalsa, she completed Foundations: Principles and Practices of Kundalini Yoga Therapy. She is a student and practitioner of Sat Nam Rasayan.
A former ballet dancer, Sat Shakti has a background in business and the arts. Integrating Kundalini into her life, enabled her to keep up with multiple work and volunteer commitments. As Kundalini Yoga offers practical tools for practitioners to lead balanced, happy lives, Sat Shakti enjoys sharing this powerful technology with busy Londoners.
Darshan Kaur Khalsa
Darshan Kaur Khalsa is serving as a mentoring lead trainer for this course. She’ll teach during one weekend. Darshan Kaur Khalsa is one of the few "senior teachers" of Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan. She has been living, breathing and serving the teachings of Kundalini Yoga for more than four decades in the greater Washington area. Upon graduation from University, she moved directly into an ashram so she could fully practice a yogic lifestyle. Her training included years of study with Yogi Bhajan, who first brought Kundalini Yoga to the West. From 1990-1996, she served as Program Director of Yogi Bhajan's "Woman In Training Summer Camp" responsible for creating the curriculum and overseeing over 35 classes a week, covering the full spectrum of Yogic teachings and lifestyle.
In 1995, Yogi Bhajan personally directed Darshan Kaur to begin to train teachers. She is certified by Kundalini Research Institute as a lead Kundalini Yoga teacher trainer of Level 1 & 2 certification programs. Darshan Kaur is registered with the Yoga Alliance at the 500-hour level and has taught over 20,000 hours of yoga classes since 1973. She was on the faculty of Northern Virginia Community College teaching classes in Kundalini Yoga and Meditation for twenty nine years. She is a Sikh Minister, 2nd Level Practitioner of the healing art of Sat Nam Rasayan, and a certified Past Life Regression Therapist.
For 45 years, she has been helping people elevate themselves to access the storehouse of resources built into the body, mind, and spirit. Yogi Bhajan said of Darshan Kaur, "She came here as a teacher– to elevate people. She has a powerful prayer to bring out the God in everyone."
Yogi Bhajan, Master of Kundalini Yoga, arrived in the United States in 1969 with a stated purpose: “I have come to create Teachers, not to gather disciples.” For over 30 years, he traveled internationally teaching Kundalini Yoga, the Yoga of Awareness. Through The Aquarian Teacher Program, Yogi Bhajan has trained thousands of KRI Certified Kundalini Yoga Teachers. In 1994, the International Kundalini Yoga Teachers Association, (IKYTA), was formed to further spread these priceless teachings through the united efforts of Kundalini Yoga teachers worldwide.

Scholarship Opportunity *NEW*
A very special person - who prefers to remain anonymous - stepped forward to provide need-based scholarship funds for teacher training at JOY.
The donor has provided funds equivalent to one enrolment. As agreed with the donor, we'll use this contribution to offset the cost of teacher training for several people who genuinely need financial support in order to take the course. How the pot is divided will depend on how many people respond and their demonstrated need.
If you're interested in teacher training but not sure quite how to pay for it, please send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org answering two questions. 1) Why do you wish to do teacher training at JOY? And 2) why do you need financial support? Your responses will be kept confidential.
Scholarship requests are due Friday 20 September and we'll respond with decisions 23 September.
If you have questions about Teacher Training at JOY, please email email@example.com.
