A mantra of self-empowerment

There’s a saying you might have heard that’s popular among yoga practitioners: you wanna make God laugh? Make plans.

The most certain thing in life is uncertainty. Most things that happen are beyond your control. The thought of not being in control can seem disempowering. However, learning to let go can be liberating.

Trying to control everything can create friction. For all involved, the experience can spiral into disappointment and frustration. When you stop trying to wrestle with everything, you can relax and enjoy a state of ease.

Surrendering to the flow of life, you have an opportunity to step into your power. When you let go of your attachment to a particular outcome, you can open yourself up to infinite possibilities. Your strength comes from your ability to adapt, to expand your horizons, to tap into your creativity, to see new opportunities, to stretch yourself.

There’s no one way to learn how to let go. Kundalini Yoga and Meditation can help you hold a neutral space. Mantra can be an excellent tool to help cut through negativity and bring you to a state of balance. From here you can expand your consciousness.

One mantra to help you on your journey is the Guru Gaitri mantra: Gobinday, Mukunday, Udaray, Aparay, Hariang, Kariang, Nirnamay, Akamay. The words translate to: Sustaining, Liberating, Enlightening, Infinite, Destroying, Creating, Nameless, Without Desire. The words describe eight facets of the Divine. Reciting these words can help you to connect with the same qualities within you.

The Guru Gaitri mantra also can help you to release fear and clear the subconscious mind. You can tap into your strengths and trust in your own ability to coast through whatever challenges come up. You can more easily let go and relax into the flow of life. Truly an empowering mantra!
