JOY Teachers & Musicians

JOY presents some of the finest teachers and musicians active on the Kundalini scene today. Following are some of those who have or will soon teach or play live music at JOY events in London.

Ana (she/they) has a joyful and intuitive approach to life – growing up across continents, Mozambique holds a special place in her heart – loves to share a laugh, a dance, and practice yoga in community. She continues to explore her yogic journey with KRI Level 2 Teacher Training. Every day is a journey of discovery and playfulness.

Ana is a filmmaker who’s current art practice explores the body as a moving sculpture and how the moving sculpture connects with liminal space. Her process involves a daily spiritual practice which lays the groundwork for activating the inner lens. This creative practice is an ongoing dialogue between inner and outer worlds, the human body and infinite space.

Expect a classic Kundalini Yoga class that embraces the Infinite Self, focuses the mind, and explores moving meditation - with joy!

Joy Yoga occupies a special place in Chiara's heart – it was here that her love of Kundalini Yoga first took root and found a community! She is overjoyed to be teaching here.

Having completed a Foundations of Kundalini Yoga Therapy course, Chiara also regularly learns and practices Sat Nam Rasayan (the healing branch of Kundalini Yoga). She incorporates the subtlety and stillness from these practices into her classes, making them gentle yet powerful, and giving her students the opportunity to expand and push their limits while respecting their bodies' needs.
Chiara recently trained with Gurmukh and Gurushabd, an incredible husband and wife couple who studied with Yogi Bhajan for decades. She is extremely grateful to them for guiding her to teach from the heart and follow her intuition.
As a Human Rights Lawyer, Chiara worked in El Salvador, Colombia and Palestine, where she learnt much from seeing the strength and grace with which people can live in extremely challenging circumstances. Now focusing her energies closer to home, Chiara feels passionately about sharing Kundalini Yoga with others, particularly those with health conditions, as it played a vital part in helping her to recover from chronic illness. Chiara loves teaching yoga outdoors, and is currently enjoying teaching in parks and on rooftops!

Colin Raizon grew up in Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe. He spent much of his time under the African sun in physical activities - running, playing rugby, hockey, squash, tennis. And so he continued after arriving in the UK in 1975, adding marathon running to his repertoire. The inevitable stress on his back led to occasional visits to an osteopath who, in 2001, recommended that Colin add a further activity as a counterbalance – yoga.

Colin’s interest in yoga developed steadily and he returned from a yoga retreat in Marrakech in 2007 keen to enhance his practice. In 2008 he undertook a Kundalini Yoga teacher training course with the Karam Kriya school in London. One thing led to another and Colin now teaches Kundalini Yoga in London.

Colin is a very busy financial adviser in London, giving him first-hand experience of the need for a practical tool to enable us to counteract stress and to remain focused and calm in the midst of the challenges we face in these changing times.

‘This class was so incredible! I normally practise kundalini in Ibiza - I didn’t really think that it would be as easy to let go of boundaries in London just because of the chaotic energy - but it was incredible! It was actually my best kundalini experience yet!’
